Pancreas Surgery
The pancreas is a gland located behind the stomach, attached to the small intestine and the spleen. The pancreas produces enzymes that aid in the digestion of food and hormones such as insulin. Whether or not there is any underlying disease, tumors and other surgical disease processes can develop within the pancreas. The diagnosis can be difficult and require special techniques including high resolution CT and endoscopic ultrasound. At Tulane Transplant Institute, our multidisciplinary staff has expertise in all of these areas.
