Interventional Cardiac Catheterization

Tulane Pediatric Heart Center’s philosophy is to avoid surgery whenever possible. We also minimize procedures by combining diagnostic and interventional catheterizations when possible.

Services Include:

  • Septal Defect Device Closure of most Atrial and some Ventricular Septal Defects (ASDs, VSDs, PFOs).
  • Stent Implantation Procedures for:
    • Branch Pulmonary Artery Stenosis
    • Aortic Coarctation
    • Stenotic Conduits and Homografts
  • Superior Vena Cava Reconstruction for SVC Syndrome or Thrombosis
  • Closure of PDA and Anomalous Blood Vessels
  • Balloon Valvuloplasty for Aortic Valve or Pulmonary Valve Stenoses
  • Radiofrequency Perforation for Pulmonary Atresia
  • Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome
    • Management of Intact Atrial Septum
    • Hybrid Palliation
  • Intracardiac Echocardiography (ICE)
